Lots of green out there if we’re paying attention. By the way, that shot of the colorful clothesline almost makes doing laundry fun. Well, maybe fun is too strong a word, but it’s still pretty cool.
Hi, Peter – Handwashing our laundry, and then hanging it on an outside line to dry, was part of our daily routine on our Camino treks. I wouldn’t go so far as labelling it ‘fun’, but it was meditative and had its own sense of charm. That’s the wonderful thing about these photographic challenges — all of those wonderful memories come back to the immediate surface. Thanks so much for stopping by, I greatly appreciate it.

I agree with the others – so much fun in this post, Donna. When you think about it, the colour green is everywhere. More so during the summer here in Wales.

So true. My nephew and my dad were like that. Same walk and head tilts. It was uncanny especially since my dad died when my nephew was 3 so he didn’t get it from seeing it modeled.
Kermit is my favorite, favorite muppet, and how I love that song and his gentle voice. Green is the predominant color of our gardens in our home in the woods. Go, green!

I’m sitting out on the balcony of mu Johannesburg home right now Donna and looking at all the shades of green with a keener eye. I remember an artist teacher saying to note the different shades of colour. When green is dotted with splashes of colour then my heart smiles. Gorgeous photos! Lovely photo of husband and son on Kili – I hiked it some years ago 🙂 Congrats to them if they summited it, not every one does. If mountain sickness gets you, it gets you. Loved this!!!!! Every part of it. The photos were stunning. I love green, and yet yes, I bet it is a very overlooked color because it really is almost everywhere, so common, but when you don’t see if and then you do, it’s like “oh, there it is”. When we visited NYC a few years ago, we were excited to hit Central park because “finally some green”. We couldn’t wait to get home to more “green” and less pavement.

The number one thing that it did was encourage me to play with my camera and explore its endless features. There’s been so much power at my finger tips all along that I never realized was there!

Could be a challenge! Spring green is a month away and there are still 4′ snowbanks. Water started running Friday but today it’s all frozen over again.

Thanks, Natalie – I recently began to use Snapseed to edit photos on my phone. Snapseed offers a very cool photo framing feature that works in a heartbeat. The downside was that since I am new to Snapseed, l experimented and used a variety of different frames for each of my photos. When I then lined them up on WordPress…it was a chaotic disaster! So off to Canva they went for a quick (and consistent) re-framing. Crisis averted! 😀
You remind me Donna, of no lack of green around here.🙂 I appreciate the exquisite pop of colour. Your yellow rain jacket gets a great deal of use. And you look great in it! Thanks so much, Erica. One of the (oh so many) things that I love about our Island is that I have several pieces of clothing, including jackets, that can be worn year-round. That yellow rain jacket is one of them. I am excitedly cheering on Spring and the vaccine so that we can hike together again soon (rain jacket or no rain jacket). 😀
Lovely Green themed post for St Patrick’s day last week. I particularly liked the lovely serene shot of British Columbia. I stopped to look at that shot for a while.
I like the Snapseed app too. It seems to have lots of useable features that others don’t all together in the one application.
Hi, Amanda – I’m delighted that you liked the serene BC shot (I assume that you are referring to the one from Port Hardy).
I’m also happy to hear that you are enjoying Snapseed. I enjoy parts of it, but sadly have not found that it does everything that I want I only have the Snapseed phone version (not the computer version). I find that the Snapseed Healing Tool does not work as well as the Retouch Tool on my Photos App on my compujter. I also find that the Snapseed tool does not let me saturate a single colour, or highlight one colour on an otherwise Black and White photo. If you can do these on your Snapseed, please share!
Yes, Port Hardy was the photo that caught my eye, Donna.
I agree Snapseed does not seem to have those capabilities to selectively highlight. My photo app on my computer has even less functionality. Have you used Pixlr?

Thanks, Susan – The clothes on the line were not all mine or Richard’s but belonged to everyone staying at the hostel. On the Camino, I only had with me the clotthes that I was wearing when hiking..and the clothes that I had on when I was washing what I wore that day. When carrying everything you need in a backpack for a 30 day, it’s amazing what you decide you no longer need! Doing the laundry was our daily post-hiking event, but it did become quite meditative! 😀

I love your honeymoon phase. Is it a free app or what? It looks so perfect. I do mine in Photoshop Elements. It doesn’t take too long, but a double frame would.
Hi, Marsha – Snapseed is a free app that you can download to your smartphone. It has many cool features. I highly recommend giving it a try. I did get a little carried away using different frames for each picture… and then realized that the pics looked very chaotic placed together in the same post. So I gave them each a quick run through Canva (the free version) and simply planted a wide green frame over each of them. On today’s ‘Emerge’ post I got much wiser, and began with the exact same frame for each photo. That was a much more cohesive look! Live and learn! 😀

All of my photos labelled October 2019 or later were taken on my Samsung Galaxy S10 phone. All photos from 2015 – Septmber 2019 were taken on my iPhone.
All photos before taken before that are anybody’s guessed (I’ve owned a large variety of cameras0. I love my Samsung phone camera and now only shoot with that.

Hi, Laura – I agree that this is a VERY Kermit-kind-of-song That’s one of the reasons that I dearly love it. The lyrics are extremely powerful and hold many different levels of meaning — especially the importance of self-acceptance. This past year, I have greatly loved traveling vicariously through the posts and photographs of others. I am delighted that you have joined along to do the same!

Hi Donna – love the sentiment … of the greening of Spring with its assorted colours. I’d love to be able to play like that you’re right – the piano looks extra long? But wouldn’t make much difference to me – I have no sense of rhythm – hence failure at piano at an early age. Wonderful photos – it’s chilly here … but Spring is around. Could be a challenge! Spring green is a month away and there are still 4′ snowbanks. Water started running Friday but today it’s all frozen over again.

Thanks, Natalie – I recently began to use Snapseed to edit photos on my phone. Snapseed offers a very cool photo framing feature that works in a heartbeat. The downside was that since I am new to Snapseed, l experimented and used a variety of different frames for each of my photos. When I then lined them up on WordPress…it was a chaotic disaster! So off to Canva they went for a quick (and consistent) re-framing. Crisis averted! 😀

Thanks so much, Erica. One of the (oh so many) things that I love about our Island is that I have several pieces of clothing, including jackets, that can be worn year-round. That yellow rain jacket is one of them. I am excitedly cheering on Spring and the vaccine so that we can hike together again soon (rain jacket or no rain jacket). 😀

Lovely Green themed post for St Patrick’s day last week. I particularly liked the lovely serene shot of British Columbia. I stopped to look at that shot for a while.
I like the Snapseed app too. It seems to have lots of useable features that others don’t all together in the one application.

Hi, Amanda – I’m delighted that you liked the serene BC shot (I assume that you are referring to the one from Port Hardy).
I’m also happy to hear that you are enjoying Snapseed. I enjoy parts of it, but sadly have not found that it does everything that I want I only have the Snapseed phone version (not the computer version). I find that the Snapseed Healing Tool does not work as well as the Retouch Tool on my Photos App on my compujter. I also find that the Snapseed tool does not let me saturate a single colour, or highlight one colour on an otherwise Black and White photo. If you can do these on your Snapseed, please share!

I agree Snapseed does not seem to have those capabilities to selectively highlight. My photo app on my computer has even less functionality. Have you used Pixlr?

Such a wonderful post, Donna! If this one doesn’t make everybody smile, I don’t know what does. Green is a pretty color – while it stands out in certain scenes, it blends in in others. Good point. Thanks, Susan – The clothes on the line were not all mine or Richard’s but belonged to everyone staying at the hostel. On the Camino, I only had with me the clotthes that I was wearing when hiking..and the clothes that I had on when I was washing what I wore that day. When carrying everything you need in a backpack for a 30 day, it’s amazing what you decide you no longer need! Doing the laundry was our daily post-hiking event, but it did become quite meditative! 😀

Hi, Marsha – Snapseed is a free app that you can download to your smartphone. It has many cool features. I highly recommend giving it a try. I did get a little carried away using different frames for each picture… and then realized that the pics looked very chaotic placed together in the same post. So I gave them each a quick run through Canva (the free version) and simply planted a wide green frame over each of them. On today’s ‘Emerge’ post I got much wiser, and began with the exact same frame for each photo. That was a much more cohesive look! Live and learn! 😀

All of my photos labelled October 2019 or later were taken on my Samsung Galaxy S10 phone. All photos from 2015 – Septmber 2019 were taken on my iPhone.
All photos before taken before that are anybody’s guessed (I’ve owned a large variety of cameras0. I love my Samsung phone camera and now only shoot with that.
