Two-Ingredient Biscuits

If you are looking for an easy-peasy biscuit recipe, this one is a cinch. Best of all, it uses only two simple ingredients (and there are numerous options for both). Sounds too good to be true? I thought so.

Let’s begin with the dough. The ingredients come together nicely with minimal effort and almost no kneading. In real life, the results were moist, smooth and less neon-yellow. Sadly, the dough wasn’t very photogenic!

The dough (I promise that it was less tough than it appears).
This is a truer likeness of the actual dough which was very easy to work with.
I didn’t realize that I owned all these cute cookie-cutter shapes. It’s amazing what can get hidden (and forgotten) in our cupboards!

Let me now go back to Step 1 and show you the two ingredients. 1) 2 cups flour (I used organic whole wheat, but you could use the flour of your choice).

The Ingredients

2) 8 oz pureed vegetables (I used organic mixed vegetables with turkey). And yes, your eyes have not deceived you… I used baby food.

Because when this adorable guest is coming to visit, you want to be ready.

The biscuits were a huge hit. Who could resist such polite behaviour?
Our guest ensured that I had no extra biscuits hiding underneath my computer.
Nor in my bedroom!

And while these biscuits were not actually on MY plate, I hope they still count for this monthly link-up. Here’s the full recipe.

So, what’s been on your plate lately? Tommy and I would love to know!

  1. Well they sound good enough for a human to eat too Donna – you could add any babyfood pureed fruit combo instead and they’d be delicious. Loved your very photogenic guest x

    1. True confession: I did try a small nibble. I found them to be incredibly bland. Good thing that most dogs are less discriminating than humans when it comes to taste. You are right about a pureed fruit or veggie combo — that would definitely work!

  2. O my stars Donna! Such a lovely post! Tommy looks adorable – and so well behaved. Smart too with all his checking there were no extra biscuits layin’ around that you were hiding. I’m thinking these biscuits would be more than good enough for human consumption. Baby food clearly has many functions –

    1. Ummm, the small nibble that I had was far from exciting. But that did not stop Tommy from loving them. We later shared these biscuits with Tommy’s four-legged walking buddies and they all seemed to love them too. Perhaps I will need to pull one out of the freezer and sample it again! Thank you for your fun comment!

  3. A lovely dog. I am quite sure he (she?) would have enjoyed the visit even without the cookies. I am not sure who looks happier – you or the dog!

  4. Well, the biscuit wasn’t very photogenic, but you certainly were, Donna! I always love to see your beautiful smile. Thanks for sharing the biscuit recipe. I’m sure they are yummy! I loved the photos of Tommy, too. He looks like such a sweet dog. I hope we see more of him!

    1. Thanks, Jill – Tommy is a very, very sweet dog. He (and his human parents) are part of a twice-weekly walking group that I regularly join. I’ll have to find a way to include this group in another post. It is filled with such lovely dogs.

  5. Ahem. I think you like to spoil your guests – two-footed or four. What lucky guests! And I think these biscuits would be enjoyed by both types of guests! Adorable photos. xo

    1. Hi, Pam – Sadly, I don’t think that human guests would like this exact version of biscuits – far too bland. So far, six different dogs have sampled them, and they have been a huge hit each time. Good thing Tommy is also an excellent sharer!

  6. What a fun post! For a while, I thought the biscuits were for those with two legs. Then, of course, came the sweet picture of your four-legged guest. What a beauty! Bon appetit!

  7. These biscuits sound worthy of human consumption too … although I’m questioning a little on the crunchy side. The question is … did you try one?

However, what really caught my eye was your amazing rolling mat for pastry. LOVE IT!! Now I’m heading off to find one online!

    1. Yup, tried one. Verdict – very bland…but also soft and not crunchy at all (although the ones in the freezer are likely quite crunchy now). 😀
I bought that pastry mat years ago in Beijing. I’m sure that there are also numerous versions online. I highly recommend them!

      1. hahahaha! Awesome that you tried them! I’m not surprised that they were bland. That was the same verdict on kitty kibble and treats that my son insisted on trying. Curiosity must be satisfied!

  9. Tommy looks like a wonderful house guest, and so appreciative of your baking efforts! I will have to remember this treat recipe for any similar guests in my future at my new place. I think I have some cookie cutters lying around somewhere…probably in with my crafting supplies 🤣.

    1. Hi, Granny 1947 – Thanks so much for stopping by. I don’t have a dog either…but I do have many doggy friends (and these biscuits made me suddenly more popular with them). I just returned from your site. Very fun Wednesday post!

    1. Thanks, Margaret – Yay, I’m not so sure that these would make a great treat for human adults (actually, I am pretty sure that they wouldn’t). I’m now in deep pursuit of minimal-ingredient baked treats that I would like. Stay tuned! 😀

  10. Such fun! I don’t have a dog but I bet my granddaughters would love to make them for their dog. I actually made sugar cookies today – Easter themed chicks, carrots & bunnies. Now to frost them.

    1. Yum! Those sugar cookies sound divine. I swear that I can smell their fresh aroma from here. 😀
I think your grandchildren might enjoy making the dog biscuits – and the recipe couldn’t be easier!
Wishing you an early Happy Easter!

  15. What a fun biscuit treat for doggies. I did wonder where you were going with the two ingredients. But these would be gobbled up by my schnauzers. And I can freeze them, and they are low fat too! (Schnauzers have to have a low fat diet). Thanks ever so much, Donna.

  16. Ha ha Donna – you had me with this recipe. I was wondering who on earth adds baby food to cookies, then I got to the VIP guest bit. I’m sure Tommy loved them!

  17. What a great idea to make doggy biscuits because so many of the store bought ones are loaded with artificial flavors and dyes
    – and having them easy to make is another plus
The guest pup is adorable ! Love the photos

  18. I’m reading along thinking – how are you gonna do 2 ingredient biscuits, cause I was close enough to the South of the USA for years to think biscuit is what you eat with biscuits and gravy, or serve at Thanksgiving dinner. Then cookie cutters??…. OH… Dog biscuits – dog treats that look like cookies! I had to chuckle… and also think, I don’t cook us biscuits, I’m not making any for my dog! Interesting recipe though.

  19. Hi Donna – Tommy looks like he deserves to be biscuit-cooked for … probably a good thing they weren’t that tasty! But a fun read … with delightful accompanying photos … it’s hot-cross bun time here – but again not for me … cheers Hilary
