The writing on this site reflects my first ten years of retirement and the many friendships that grew along the way.
Before retiring, I spent fourteen years living in Beijing, China, where I worked as Middle School Principal and Deputy Director at The Western Academy of Beijing. In June 2015, my husband and I packed up our international life and retired to Vancouver Island, Canada. Retirement Reflections began as a way for me to make sense of that transition.
The years since have been filled with family, friends, travel, new interests, and the rediscovery of old passions. It’s been a time of learning, rethinking, slowing down in some ways—and leaning in more fully in others.
Here, I’ve written about books, food, hiking, travel, and the everyday moments that shaped my early retirement life. Whether you’re already retired, easing into it, working full or part-time, dreaming about what comes next, or somewhere in between, you are very welcome here.
